October is looking awesome. I'm excited for the "Leaks, Tweets and Deletes" panel October 1 at the Multnomah County Library. Then it's Wordstock on the 8th, again here in Portland, where I will be giving a talk on ways to turn a subject into a story. Two days later I jet to Cairo for a fantastic journalism event, put together by the Open Hands Initiative and GlobalPost. I will only be there a couple of days, but I'm thrilled to lead a panel discussion about social media with local superstars Ahmed Maher, Gigi Ibrahim, and Ramy Raoof. (If you've never heard of them, look them up. You'll be impressed.) From there I make my way to Flagstaff, Arizona for the annual meeting of the National Association of Science Writers. This event should be a blast, provided I can find a way to get some Z's.
